The fiercely independent Titus Andronicus play punk-inflected indie rock with influences ranging from The Hold Steady, The Pixies, Bright Eyes and Bruce Springsteen. The band formed in Glen Rock, New Jersey in 2005 around bandleader and songwriter Patrick Stickles. Their debut full-length, The Airing of Grievances was released in 2008 to great promise, which was quickly exceeded by 2010’s The Monitor, which earned them a mention in Rolling Stone as one of the seven best new bands of 2010.

Pitchfork favorably compares Titus Andronicus to similarly head-strong punks The Clash in their review of last year’s outstanding triple LP, The Most Lamentable Tragedy, an ambitious punk-rock opera in five acts, stating, The Clash were hyped as the “only band that matters,” a dubious claim because it was invented by their record label. But for their fans, Titus Andronicus is this type of group. They turn a great, burning eye upon the world and spare no one from their observations, not even themselves. For listeners attracted to rock’n’roll as both flagellating whip and eternal flame, this is powerfully enticing…”

They will be landing in Davis a night after headlining The Fillmore in San Francisco.

Program opener La Sera is the new project of Katy Goodman (Vivian Girls) and Todd Wisenbaker. Their 2016 debut Music for Listening to Music To, was produced by indie icon and collaborator Ryan Adams.
